Miss Israel impressed by Vietnamese people's hospitality

Miss Israel Shunit Faragi, who has recently attended Miss Universe 2008 contest in Vietnam had a cultural exchange with the Central Committee of the Ho chi minh Communist Youth Union in Hanoi on July 18.

She said it was a great honour for her to attend the beauty contest, make a tour of famous destinations and meet with friendly Vietnamese people. “Wherever I travelled, from Nha trang city to Ha Long City, back to Ho chi minh city and then to Hanoi I always received warm welcome from the Vietnamese people. They were very friendly and hospitable,” said the Israeli beauty queen.

She said she and other Miss Universe contestants were impressed by the breathtaking beauty of Ha long bay and they decided to vote for the World Heritage site to be one of the new natural wonders of the world.

She told her past experiences in Vietnam with her family members and decided to return to the country this time with them to explore the country’s traditional culture and customs.

During the exchange, she answered many questions raised by young Vietnamese people relating to Israel’s culture, its young people’s lifestyles and her future plans. She expressed her hope that more cultural exchanges will be conducted between young Vietnamese and Israeli people to promote friendship and mutual understanding.

The 21-year-old Miss Israel then paid a visit to the Birla orphanage at No 3, Khuat Duy Tien road, where she read fairy tales, presented gifts and took photographs with the orphans there.

The event was jointly organised by the Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper, the Israeli Embassy in Hanoi and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
