The author of the book The Perfect Spy, the true story of Vietnamese spy Pham Xuan An, will meet with fans today in Hanoi
The book, written by Larry Herman, has been highly-acclaimed both in the US and in Vietnam First published in April 2007 in English, the story follows the double life of Pham Xuan An, a reporter for Time Magazine and a Vietnamese secret agent. During the American War in Vietnam, he worked as a well-respected Vietnamese journalist and a communist intelligence agent.
Berman studied An's life as a professor of political science at the University of California-Davis, and has devoted his career to understanding the American War and sharing his knowledge with others.
After its initial English release, Vietnam News Agency's Publishing House acquired the copyright permission to publish the book in Vietnamese. Since its domestic release, the book has become a phenomenon in Vietnam.
The meeting is taking place today at 8.45am, at Vietnam New Agency, at 11 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hanoi Berman will be signing copies of the book, and will present his other books in Hcm city
