On June 17th, Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee held a seminar to make a profile of Con Moong cave to propose UNESCO recognize it as a world cultural heritage.
Con Moong is situated in Thanh Yen commune, Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa province and in the buffer zone of Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh binh province.
This archaeological site was discovered in 1975. Excavation and research proved that the cave was the size of an ancient human settlement during the transition from hunting and gathering society to an agricultural one, and from cave living to live in permanently dwellings.
Participants at the seminar discussed expanding the area for survey and research and officially associating the cave with Cuc Phuong National Park.
There is a need for close cooperation between the two provinces and support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Thanh Hoa province actively built the project, collected data and conducted archaeological surveys and research to profile Con Moong cave in the regional cultural space under the criteria for UNESCO recognition as a world cultural heritage site.
